My cursor agent completely stopped responding

I submit a request and it just says “generating” but never finishes. It worked great for a few days but just stopped. What should I be looking for to fix it?

Hey, which version of Cursor are you using and which model? Also, try starting a new chat, that should help.

the version that i use is:
Version: 0.50.5 (user setup)
VSCode Version: 1.96.2
Commit: 96e5b01ca25f8fbd4c4c10bc69b15f6228c80770
Date: 2025-05-18T04:26:31.444Z
Electron: 34.3.4
Chromium: 132.0.6834.210
Node.js: 20.18.3
V8: 13.2.152.41-electron.0
OS: Windows_NT x64 10.0.26100

Same problem with all cursor versions since at least 0.46. sometimes it takes ages until response sometimes it never responses

It’s unfortunate that Cursor went so far as to block users from searching for this article title on their forum.

Many people have encountered this problem, and previous versions also had this problem. I still encounter this problem now, and I think the reason is that the character capacity of a single conversation task is limited, and once it exceeds this limit, a new conversation task must be started.

I have this same issue and starting a new chat is when the problem occurs. If i go back to chats from a week ago they work fine.
