Hey, I’m seeing a few users with the same issue right now. Let’s narrow it down. Please try these steps:

  1. Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP. If you have any MCP servers connected, temporarily disable all of them. This is the most common cause of this error.

  2. Disable HTTP/2. Cursor Settings > Network. Turn on “Disable HTTP/2”.

  3. Sign out and sign back in from Cursor Settings.

  4. Try a different model. Switch from Auto to a specific model, or the other way around, and test in a new chat.

If none of that helps, run Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics and share the results here.

Also, are you using a VPN or any kind of corporate proxy?

Let me know how it goes.

Signing out and opening a new chat worked for me

Cursor Network Diagnostic Results

FAILED (4): Authentication UI, Cursor Tab, Agent Endpoint, Codebase Indexing

Thanks, I’m seeing the diagnostic screenshots. Interesting situation: API, Ping, and Chat pass, but Authentication UI, Cursor Tab, Agent Endpoint, and Codebase Indexing fail with “Timeout waiting for EverythingProvider”. I also noticed the DNS and SSL tests don’t seem to finish and keep spinning.

A few questions and steps:

  • Have you already tried the steps above (disable HTTP/2, sign out and back in, disable MCP servers)?
  • Are you using a VPN, a corporate proxy, or an antivirus with network filtering (like Zscaler or Kaspersky)?
  • Try fully restarting Cursor (close all windows) and run diagnostics again. In the first screenshot, DNS and SSL didn’t finish, and that could be causing the other failures.
  • What Cursor version and OS are you on?

Let me know the results.

I am having the exact same error:
API, Ping, and Chat pass, but Authentication UI, Cursor Tab, Agent Endpoint, and Codebase Indexing fail with “Timeout waiting for EverythingProvider”. DNS and SSL tests don’t finish and keep spinning.

Restarted, logged out and in again, disabled http/2, Not using VPN or proxy… fully restarted Cursor.

I downgraded from 2.5 to 2.4 and it was ok.
