Agent can take a while to work through things so I divert my attention to other stuff and wish it would notify me when it’s done so I don’t space out and forget to return to Cursor. I tried at least turning on signal sounds but it doesn’t seem to have an effect.
I’m also running into this problem pretty frequently. Until we have a native solution, I put together a simple extension that provides feedback when Chat / Composer has a change ready to accept: Composer Boop - Visual Studio Marketplace
I couldn’t get access to everything I wanted to do via Code’s extension API, but it’s been working pretty well for me so far.
it doesn’t work with the newest version?
This is shipped!
Right now this just takes you to Cursor in general, but not to the right Chat session, and it doesn’t have the name of the session or any other context. Is there a way to add more metadata?
I’m always managing at least multiple conversations per repo, and in practice also have multiple Cursor windows open (using the MacOS native tab setting) each with their chats.
It would be great to have some of the following (from most important to least important):
- Include the name of the conversation in the message.
- Have clicks go to the right conversation.
- Include the name of the project directory
- Have clicks go to the right project, even in native tab mode (this is likely to be a rarely requested thing)
All of these will be out in 1.6. Should be in beta by Monday
Or if you use nightly, out now.
That was very badass
The bell and notifications work like 20% of the time for me, very frustrating (latest MacOS, latest cursor most of the time). There must be an underlying common bug.
@leoing are you on 1.5.9 or 1.6 Nightly?
1.5.9. Hand-updated to 1.5.11 today.
The Ding has been like that since it’s intro. Notification ding worked when introduced (too many), no more.
I think it’s the same sound, I seldomly hear it. Sometimes toward the end of a session, nothing seems to have changed.
I tried without boom3 (sound enhancer using the mic), but no difference.
Edit: Right now the Ding works. Maybe since update (on codex whole day). The Notifications don’t work at all, no alerts popping, no sound.
If you get me on nightly, I will try.
Yes, the issue is still ongoing. Since July 28 - you can read about it here.
- MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90).
I also have a ticket somewhere, I think even earlier.
You can switch in Settings > Beta > Update Access > Nightly but note that it is more frequently updated and may have temporary issues or new features coming & going as we test.
