OpenAI New o1 models

OpenAI is rolling out this model to tier 5 developers today. Is Cursor at tier 5? Can’t imagine they aren’t with the recent volume lol.

They are only allowing 20 RPM so guess it won’t be generally available in Cursor for a bit.

Yes! We’re working on getting the RPM bumped.

It would be nice.

Can I use my own API? I became tier 5 today just for this.

Can’t wait!

I tested out with own key, however system instructions and configs are not available for o1 yet.

Also tried, I’d love for @Cursor to implement a workaround if possible if we are using our own keys!

+1 — for those following along at home, this makes the requests all fail because Cursor uses the system prompt for context.

It seems like cursor team did something. It’s working for me now.

Looking forward to seeing what the community can build with these new models.

Experimenting with relatively simple code that the 4o model on cursor couldnt resolve after 4 trys , pasted the code into chatGPT and used o1 and it resolved it first shot. This model looks like its make a huge impact on how we will code in Cursor . Hers is an example thoght process it used

Hey djeidy , how did you set it up , whats the model name format you are using , is it possible for a screenshot .

You must be tier 5 in Open AI. Then it’s just about using your own api key and add o1-preview.

And the o1-mini is also considered a free model included in the PRO subscription.

I’m a pro user.

I don’t turn on usage-based pricing,

and I turn on o1-mini, but I can’t use it.

so, why?

then I turn on usage-based pricing, it worked, but

this is my first time to use o1-mini, but it shows that I will pay for it.

it is not Included in Pro.

I got it to work as well. Although it’s not included in the Pro plan, the mini is included.

I used the usage payment to try the model. In short, the model is not as impressive as it should be. Sonnet-3.5 fixed the code that o1 had created.
