I’ve had this happen several times during this chat, Claude seems to answer in its thinking/working chunks and then that gets hidden before it’s shown to me. The resulting text is just a summary or if it shows a QA box, just the questions.
Here’s the latest example where I asked it a point blank question to help understand its recommendation in response to it’s question, it thought for 18s and then gave me basically the same QA box back. Then it got perturbed when probed on it, claiming it already gave me the answer.
Makes me think it’s not familiar enough with Cursor’s formatting or something. This is a fairly long running chat and I’ve upped the context window to 1M b/c it keeps going over the context window limit otherwise.

The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!
Hey @Surrealblend! The answer isn’t lost, it’s tucked inside the collapsed thinking. Click the Thought 18s line to expand it and you’ll see what it worked out. This isn’t intended behavior, and it’s nothing on your end.
To avoid it: type your question as a normal chat message instead of answering inside the question box (that’s what worked in your next message), or tell it “answer in plain text first.” Very long 1M chats make this more likely too, so a fresh chat helps if it keeps up.
We’ve let the team know, and it’s an issue we’re tracking.
Thanks Mohit, just a heads up this happened just now with Sonnet 5.5 extra high in a different chat. Second prompt on a roughly 70% full context window.
No question prompt for me to respond from, just from my regular prompt. However it’s response led to a QA block sent to me.
I suspect you have repro’d this by now but just providing an extra data point in case it helps.
