Please Remove Chat Dimming When Action Selection Menu Pops Up in Agent Terminal

Hello Cursor team,

I’d like to suggest an interface improvement related to working with the AI agent’s chat and terminal.

When the action selection menu appears (with options like “Run”, “Skip”, “Reject and tell what to do differently”, etc.) as the agent tries to execute a terminal command, the chat area gets dimmed and becomes hard to read (see screenshot).

Why this is an issue:

  • Sometimes, I need to check previous chat messages or details while deciding how to proceed, but the dimming makes this difficult.
  • The current overlay feels like it blockades the interface, while I just want quick context from the chat before picking an option.
  • Reduced readability slows down the workflow and reduces usability, especially when debugging or clarifying commands.

Suggestion:
Please consider removing or making the chat dimming optional when the action selection menu pops up. Alternatively, allowing users to set the overlay’s transparency or disable it in the settings would help.

Thank you for considering this feedback! Cursor is already a fantastic tool, and I think this change would make it even better for everyone who frequently interacts with agent-initiated terminal actions.
