Dear Cursor Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request the restoration of the previous functionality of the Ctrl + L shortcut, which was used to open a new chat. The current behavior, which opens an agent by default, feels overly intrusive and disrupts the user experience.
- Ctrl + L Shortcut:
The previous behavior of Ctrl + L to initiate a new chat was intuitive and efficient. If users need to access the current chat, they can do so without requiring a dedicated shortcut. The new implementation, however, feels invasive and unnecessary. I kindly urge you to revert this change to maintain a seamless workflow for users. - Default to Chat Mode, Not Agent Mode:
Even industry leaders like Anthropic have indicated that fully autonomous agents are not expected to be implemented until 2027. At this stage, having an auto-controlled agent without human supervision is premature and overly intrusive. It would be far more practical and user-friendly to default to chat mode, where users can review and refine results before applying them. This approach ensures greater control, accuracy, and user satisfaction.
I sincerely request that you consider these changes to align Cursor’s functionality with user expectations and industry standards. Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Juan
