Revert new CMD + L user experience

CMD + L previously directly opened chat window without preserving old state.
Now i have to CMD + L, click on a new chat option, and then start typing.

Or give user option to change this behaviour.

Thank you.

Hey, you can try the shortcut Cmd + Shift + N to open a new chat.

Seems like it has conflicts with open new IDe window.

Yes, the keyboard shortcuts between so many applications, OS, OS level tools, IDE panes, IDE itself are getting overcrowded.

modifying, adding or removing shortcuts should be avoided where ever possible. we cant all keep going and modifying our workflows / shortcuts across the ecosystem. Even worse if more than one app starts adding features and even worse with global shortcuts or industry quasi-standard shortcuts.

I don’t see improvements from the new behavior, but inconvenience caused by changing habits.

Hi, cmd+shift+L will open a new chat (or if content is highlighted, open the new chat with that content).

We’ll be adding a lot more keybinding configuration in the next update to make this behavior easier to change for users.

Hi, after the recent update Ctrl+shift+L now doesn’t open a new chat, it opens the last used chat. How can I change this?

Hey, you might have changed the default shortcut. Check your keybinding settings, by default, this shortcut opens a new chat.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have double-checked my shortcut settings and reset them all to defaults. Ctrl+Shift+L still opens the previous chat for me. I am on Windows 10 running cursor 0.48.7

EDIT: got back the old functionality i like by changing the Cursor: New Chat keybind from Ctrl + N to Ctrl + L and changing its when expression to be blank. However, it now opens in agent mode by default, but I would like it to open in ask mode. how can i achieve this without performing an additional action?
