Pricing using Gemini models with Cursor

Ok, someone tell me if I am missing something.

Gemini CLI allows 1000 request a DAY at a free tier.

Cursor Pro ($20/month) says it yields ~550 Gemini model requests in a MONTH.

i would understand this - google is giving YOU 1000 credits for free. (they give alot away for free). they however do chrage if you are have your own product using gemini. just like Chat gpt is free but if you make your own ai chat and use one of their models they will charge you.

Hey, thanks for the question. @Meirsudak is right: Google gives free credits directly to individual users, but charges commercial products that use their API.

Cursor Pro for (20)/month includes:

  • ~550 Gemini requests for the median user
  • Full IDE integration (codebase context, Tab completion, Agent modes)
  • Prompt building and context management
  • Extra bonus usage beyond the guaranteed limit

If you need unlimited requests, you can add your own Gemini API key: API Keys | Cursor Docs. Then the requests will be billed directly by Google at your own rate.
