Problem in writing file in manual mode

Describe the Bug

Why in manual mode, I often encounter issues where files cannot be written? I typically use DeepSeek v3.0 or DeepSeek v3.1, and sometimes even after repeatedly requesting file writes many times, it fails to execute. However, if I start a new conversation, it might succeed.

In agent mode, when using Claude Sonnet 4, automatic file writing works without issues.

When using the older version (0.47), file writing failures rarely occurred.

Steps to Reproduce

Writing file in manual mode, especially in the condition changeing from agent mode to manual mode.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

version:1.1.3 (system setup)

Ideally, one that shows a successful tool edit (as reference) and one showing the model failing to edit the file!

Agent mode – Deepseek v 3.1
or
Manual mode – Deepseek v 3.0
or
Manual mode – Gemini 2.5 flash

All cannot work

Agent – claude 4.0 can work

If opening a new chat window, all mode usually work. (But not at all the times)

You can see ‘No changes made’ in the picture. I often tried 3-4 times in writing into file, but it won’t work.

New chat window can solve 50% problems. If in claude 4, almost 100% jobs can be done. But it is a very simple job sometimes, not worth a claude 4.0 request.

In cursor 4.7, writing always work, not only in claude model, but also in any model which is able to write into file.
