Describe the Bug

I just upgraded the cursor version, and the edit file cannot take effect in agent mode.

This is a very serious bug, because just now, the model was constantly trying to apply files, but it kept failing, so it tried to delete the files I already have and reapply the new files, which almost caused my previous code to be lost and the deleted files could not be withdrawn. I had to retrieve my code in the historical chat history.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Switch to agent mode
  2. Let cursor generate some code
  3. The file cannot be applied, only an empty file was generated

I also have this problem.
Today I insanely told it to recover because of lost files, and in the process of trying to write from the backup folder it ended up deleting my dev folder with my git in it. so basically, everything, including the backup file.
I had a github checkin that was about12 hours old.
lessons learned. It is an awesome tool but is a simpleton in many ways.

Hey, which model are you using? Also, have you tried this in a new chat?

This problem occurs when using the Claude Sonnet 4 (Thinking) model, as does the same with opening a new chat

Could you share the request ID? You’ll need to disable privacy mode first.
