Rate limit with Gemini but using "Auto"

Describe the Bug

Message in Cursor: We’ve hit a rate limit with gemini-openai. Please switch to the ‘auto-select’ model, another model, or try again in a few moments.

Steps to Reproduce

It’s started a few hours ago repeatedly. I am using “auto select”, but it keeps hitting Gemini and saying rate limit issue.

Expected Behavior

Should not hit rate limit. Why not switch to other available model automatically since I am using “auto”.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

I believe that this is related to an ongoing GCP outage. Try using a different model and I think you’ll get the same error.
