I am using auto and in free mode, which will prompt the following error message

I had this a few times this morning too, and I’ve had it on and off over the weeks. Being told to use Auto when you’re using Auto is a bit silly!

Seeing this too today, switched to codex from sonnet 4.5

also facing the same problem

but doing opposite of what the error is saying, so switching from “Auto” to “GPT-5” for me, temporarily solves the issue, so pretty sure Anthropic is doing Anthropic things, aka. is down

So it clearly says that the capacity is exceeded. Where is the bug? I don’t understand.

There is no limit to auto in my account, so there should not be such a restriction prompt

Same! Using it very lightly today and still getting this error makes no sense. I kept getting it with Claude 4.5. GPT-5 seems to be working, but that’s a fallback, not a solution.

i keep having this same issue since 24h, it’s really annoying as it’s occuring every 10 mins.

Same bug here, a few times. I was in Claude, then switched to auto, got the message, then reset to auto, got the message again, a few times even after waiting a few minutes, then finally switched to Code-supernova… Working for now.

I have seen this issue multiple times this morning. Seems to be a Cursor issue or the issue at one of the platforms they use to access LLMs (Claude, GPT). I reach this conclusion because I in Cursor auto mode and I am nowhere close to reaching my Cursor credit limit / quota. This is on Macbook pro (Apple M3 Pro, OS Sequoia 15.7.1)
