I’m a product designer. I LOVE prototyping in Cursor. One of my favorite features is the object selection tool that preloads the div in the chat window AND opens a properties panel where you can make changes manually, very similar to Figma. I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see they changed this feature in the new agent window experience. Now, when you use object selection, not only does it not open a properties panel, it doesn’t preload my default chat input with the selection, AND it’s just another freaking OPEN TEXT prompt field! This was supposed to be a more user friendly UI, and getting rid of that control feels extremely counter-intuitive. People want their buttons back.
The CSS properties panel you’re describing was part of the previous Composer browser experience and hasn’t been carried over to the new agent window yet. The current approach uses Design Mode, which lets you select elements to reference in your conversation with the agent, but it doesn’t include the direct property-editing controls. I’ve noted your suggestion – the Figma-like property editing workflow is a compelling use case for designers prototyping in Cursor.
exactly i made also same thread for this question
yes! cursor has a real opportunity to differentiate itself as an ai coding tool for real designers. not PMs who want to do design, actual designers who want to tweak and modify at a granular level without asking an agent every time.
The biggest thing for me is you can change things to just have a look how it would look you don’t need to apply if you don’t like it. I used it to make changes to also think more about changes in the design. Also sometimes if you just select a component AI stil can’t find the problem so what i then did i searched in the component what exactly is wrong by giving color in the background when i found what component is wrong i asked ai to look only that component this makes it much easier and faster to fix things. now with the design mode we lost all that…
