As a European user, I would like to see models from Mistral made available. Is there plans for this or should I start looking into alternatives?

Hello, same here, and even without the models being included in Pro, I would at least like to be able to put my Mistral API key in Cursor. At the moment, there are only options to put API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Azure.

Hey, while we are always evaluating what models should be available in Cursor, and as a part of your plan, you do still have the option to override the OpenAI URL, to point to any 3rd party LLM of your choice to be able to test them inside Cursor.
Unfortunately, certain features like the Composer Agent only work with certain models we have trained/added support for, but this is still a good way to try out a model that we don’t have native support for yet

Are there plans to add Mistral Models as supported models for use with the composer?
As a European customer, with all the chaos going on in the US, this is very important to me. I will need to migrate soon if this option isn’t offered.

I don’t believe Mistral is likely to be added, as it’s performance is worse across all benchmarks against the existing range of models.
If they release a new, higher-performing model that has higher output quality, we’ll be sure to add it!

Okay thank you, they did release a new coding model on 13th January, I don’t know exactly how it compares but apparently it is very performance, it would be good to have the option.

Hey, you can’t use Mistral officially in Cursor.
The only way to do this is to override the API URL and key, but this is probably not worth doing without a great reason, as it’ll likely break other things
What is your reasoning for preventing use if people are showing interest?

I’d really appreciate having mistral ai inside cursor, I had to leave cursor to get my code done in mistal because none of OAI, Claude or Gemini 2 pro were able to get it done where as Mistral managed to get me the right code.

I can’t stress enough how much I would like to see Mistral’s model in Cursor Composer. The output quality of results if one thing, but it’s not the only parameter in the equation…

I find it hard to believe why they wouldn’t offer this given the interest shown. Which makes me believe there must be ulterior motives here, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt for a few months but if they don’t offer this service by then I will be transitioning my team to another offering.
