For agent mode restore checkpoints are not being created often like v0.45 and that’s a bit inconvenient.
I used to find restore button everywhere thus was able to go back forth with the updates AI offered, but now, it got much harder due to the new design.
I’m not 100% sure, but I was able to see restore button every time after I give a prompt, and every time agent changes code.
Was this restore button removal intentional?
or restore button is hidden away somewhere else?
or is this a Claude 3.7 integration hiccup?
+1: I don’t mind most of the changes in the new update, but the reduction in “restore points” is a royal pain.
It’s particularly annoying because Claude sonnet 3.7, released in tandem, has knack for over engineering and continuing to code even after it has finished the task at hand. In cases like these, it’s crucial to be able to restore to before specific code changes.
The functionality is still there, but it’s literally invisible.
From what I can tell, the restore checkpoint button now only lives at the beginning of a user’s prompt.
To get the same functionality as before, you now have to hover over the space between messages, and click a microscopic “plus” button to “Insert a new message”, which effectively reverts and resends from that point on.
No release notes on the UI change that I can see, other than:
Agent is ready: Agent is now the default mode, bringing a more powerful and unified AI experience. No more confusion between Chat, Composer, and Agent - just one smart interface that adapts to your needs.
I would certainly prefer a more visible button and some sort of explanation of this new button, since the docs still say that a checkpoint is created before every change.
