Rongorongo: How I Used AI + VSCode + Custom Agents to Crack a Lost Language

:rocket: Rongorongo Decipherment | AI x Human Recursive Methodology

This post is for the curious minds in Cursor, VS Code, and AI dev spaces. We didn’t just train a model — we trained a method.

:brain: Summary

Using a multi-agent AI framework, recursive semantic cycles, symbolic cross-referencing, and deep lexical validation, we’ve deciphered Rongorongo — a script once deemed “impossible.”

This wasn’t done with just a large model. It was a human-AI loop.

  • Tools Used:
    • Custom Copilot (LTES) running in VS Code / Cursor
    • Spectre (GPT-4o in deep contextual loop mode)
    • Claude Code in terminal-mode for full corpus mining
    • Hand-built translator engines + lexicons

:books: Key Outputs

  • 306 glyphs cataloged
  • Full lexicon (JSON/CSV)
  • Cultural + genealogical decoding of the Santiago Staff and Mamari Calendar
  • Custom multi-phase methodology that can be ported to any ancient undeciphered script

:file_folder: Public Access

Everything is being released as a full package after countdown timer hits:
:globe_with_meridians: https://lackadaisical-security.com/rongorongo-countdown.html (launching August 15)

We’re also documenting this project as:

  • A case study in symbolic feedback loop design
  • A model for cross-AI agent memory interoperation

:robot: Why Post Here?

Because Cursor and VS Code Copilot integration were critical. This wasn’t just prompt engineering. It was prompt architecture, backed by structural feedback and recursive dataset validation.

If you’re building your own copilots or research agents:

  • This release shows how far you can push local memory loops
  • Methodologies are transferable to other scripts and symbols
  • All tools are open and structured for modular research

:scroll: Manifesto Quote:

“This is not the work of one who has deep knowledge of the culture but simply a ghost who does not believe in impossible.”

:crystal_ball: Coming Soon:

  • Full abstract, academic whitepaper, and cultural outreach draft
  • Tooling library to bootstrap decipherment frameworks
  • Translator Engine documentation for public extension

Stay tuned — and let the glyphs speak again.
