Show remaining plan usage directly in the Cursor IDE

I’d love to see a way to view my remaining plan usage directly in the Cursor desktop/IDE interface.

At the moment, I regularly keep the Cursor web usage page open just so I can monitor how much of my plan I’ve used. In the desktop app, I have to go into Settings → Usage each time I want to check it.

It would be really useful to have an optional usage indicator somewhere persistent in the main UI — for example in the bottom status bar, near the chat/agent controls, or as an icon that shows the remaining percentage when you hover over it.

Something simple like:

Plan usage: 42% used / 58% remaining

Or even just a small usage icon/progress indicator that opens the full Usage page when clicked.

This would be particularly helpful for people who use Cursor heavily throughout the day and switch between models with different usage rates. Being able to see remaining usage at a glance would make it much easier to manage usage without constantly opening Settings or keeping the website open.

Ideally it could be optional for users who prefer a cleaner UI.

Separate UI feedback: In dark mode, some of the icons in the top-right of the IDE can be very difficult to see because they have very little contrast against the background. Increasing their contrast/visibility would help as well.

@Colin Piling on to this idea, there was temporarily the usage percentages in this view but only for a few days. I really like it, and would love to see it back:

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Good news, you can already do this today.

Open Cursor Settings, go to Agents, and set Usage Summary to Always. You can also just search for usage summary in Settings. This will pin a small usage ring in the chat panel that shows how much of your plan you’ve used. Clicking it opens the full breakdown. By default it’s set to Auto, and it only shows up when you’re close to the limit, so it’s easy to miss.

About the icon contrast in dark mode, can you share a screenshot of the icons you mean and tell me which theme you’re using? That’ll make it easier to pass this to the right team.
