Slowness in Cursor chat

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Responses chat messages into Cursor take forever (>1 min) to generate or never generate. Tool calls keep timing out.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a directory
  2. Open up chat with Cmd + L and type in something like ‘explain this file’
  3. Hit enter
  4. The ellipses can be seen but no response is generated. Or it takes a long time for response generation to start.

Expected Behavior

In previous versions, you would see some output much earlier and tool calls would not time out.

I’m experiencing the same issue. Slow with both Auto & grok-code-fast-1. Coincided with upgrade to 1.7 but that could be a coincidence.

im running into this as well :sad_but_relieved_face:

perhaps its related with provider? i am using grok or auto and still get more fast, but its different if i am using gpt-5-codex

Just went back to normal responsiveness :slightly_smiling_face: for both Auto & grok-code-fast-1 so likely not model related.

Hey, the issue might have been temporary. Could you please let me know if it’s still happening?

Much better now. I wonder if this was downstream of the Claude outage today.

Most likely yes. At the moment, there are no incidents.

this has been a big problem for me today also
