Subject: Smart Max Mode - Small Feature, Big Trust & Money Win

Hey Cursor team,

I burned $20 in 15 minutes by forgetting Max Mode was on. My fault, but it made me scared to use Max again.

The business case: This probably happens to lots of users. When people get surprise bills, they either stop using Max entirely or churn completely.

Simple solution: Auto Mode + spending cap option

  • “Use Max when needed, but stop at $5 per session”
  • Pop-up warning at the limit

Why this matters for you:

  • More people would actually try Max (safer = higher adoption)
  • Fewer angry users and refund requests
  • Trust = word of mouth = growth

Rough numbers: Even getting 2,000 more users to spend $3/month = $6k monthly revenue. Development cost probably pays back in 2-3 months.

Real win: Cursor becomes the AI tool devs trust not to surprise them with bills. That trust is worth way more than the direct revenue.

I’d immediately start using Max again if I had this safety net. Bet I’m not alone.

I’m sure you’ve already done this, but I’ve had several AI’s estimate the ROI of this and the lowest number they all agreed on was an easy $2,000 a month to start.

Thanks for building something this good.
