SuperGrok Heavy vs Cursor Individual Ultra

Hey there,

it’s kind of a simply question because I can not find any Quota Usage for both plans.

I just wanna use “Grok Bot”. So I’m struggling to decide if “Cursor Individual Ultra” is better then “SuperGrok Heavy” Vice versa.

  • Both plans just saying “Highest Usage of Grok Bot” but does one plan having more usage then the other?
  • What are the other Benefits?

Kind of confusing for me. Hopefully someone can help me out with that.

Cheers
Dominik

As far as I know, the Grok Bot weekly usage is identical on Super Grok Heavy vs Cursor Ultra. I had the EXACT same decision to make as you a couple of weeks ago; I chose Cursor Ultra, since it’s 2/3 of the price… but I’m also interested to hear the answer!

For me I JUST wanted access to Grok Bot. I believe that the only extra benefit of Super Grok is the Imagine video generation etc, but I could be wrong!

One thing worth factoring into the Heavy vs Ultra choice: Heavy no longer includes free Cursor Ultra for new links. Official docs now treat linking as a usage grant (Grok Bot), not a Cursor Ultra plan.

On Aug 15, staff (deanrie) in Free Cursor Ultra with Grok (posts #6 and #9) said the banner was correct — Ultra stays while Heavy stays active. Mid/late Aug that promo copy disappeared from the help docs with no dated public cutoff I’ve found. Colin later said the promo ended and existing claimants keep Ultra; new links get Grok Bot only.

Billing has also said they don’t have a published cutoff date and the help page was behind. Public timeline thread: Did I miss an announcement on SuperGrok Heavy and Cursor Ultra?

So if you only want Grok Bot, Ultra may be the cleaner buy. If you’re looking at Heavy expecting Ultra at $0, that’s the older offer — did anyone here see an official dated end announcement before the docs changed?

Hey Dominik, good request. A lot of users get tripped up here.

For Grok Bot, Cursor Ultra and SuperGrok Heavy are on the same top tier. Both give the highest weekly Grok Bot quota, and neither gives more than the other. There is also no difference in models, speed, or priority. Grok Bot works the same on both. If an account somehow has both, the quotas do not stack. You just keep the highest one.

The real difference is what else each plan includes:

  • Cursor Ultra is a Cursor subscription. Besides Grok Bot, it includes Ultra-level usage for Cursor itself editor, Agent, Cloud Agents, etc.
  • SuperGrok Heavy is an xAI subscription. Besides the Grok Bot usage grant, it includes SuperGrok Heavy features on grok.com and in the Grok apps. It does not include a Cursor plan. Linking SuperGrok gives your Cursor account the Grok Bot quota, but it does not change your Cursor plan. The earlier offer free Cursor Ultra with Heavy ended at the end of August and is no longer available.

So if you only need Grok Bot, pick based on which extra features you will actually use. If you also plan to code in Cursor, Ultra gives you everything in one place. If you want Grok’s own features, go with Heavy.

With either plan, once the weekly quota is used up, you can keep going via on-demand usage if you enable it on cursor.com with a saved payment method.

Current details:

I got drawn into the Grok ecosystem because of Grok Bot. I subscribed to Cursor Pro and then also started using Grok 4.6. The xhigh-fast variant has been great for my coding work.

But I also noticed that using Cursor’s Grok usage with unofficial clients is difficult as there’s no clean API. Whereas it is widely supported for SuperGrok.

So considering that I primarily want access to two products: Grok Bot and Grok models, which plan gives more usage? Your comment made it clear that both plans offer similar usage for Grok Bot but is there any documentation around the usage provided for Grok models? TIA.

Hey, important nuance: usage for Grok models inside Cursor (in the editor, Agent, etc.) comes from your Cursor subscription, not from SuperGrok.

SuperGrok Heavy is an xAI subscription. It gives a grant for Grok Bot usage on the linked Cursor account, but it doesn’t change your Cursor plan and doesn’t add Grok model usage inside Cursor. So if you specifically need Grok models in the editor, that comes from your Cursor plan (Pro / Ultra), and Ultra includes more usage than Pro.

I won’t list the exact included limits per model here, since they depend on the plan and current configuration and they change from time to time. The current breakdown by model is always visible in Dashboard > Usage, and pricing is here:

So for your case (Grok Bot + Grok models): Cursor Ultra covers both in one place, top-tier Grok Bot and Ultra-level Grok model usage inside Cursor. SuperGrok Heavy only covers Grok Bot and Grok features on the xAI side, not Grok model usage inside Cursor.

Let me know if anything is still unclear.

I mentioned using unofficial clients and not Cursor.

So when I’m talking about Grok models usage, this is usage that I can use on clients like Pi, Ampcode, Hermes, etc. And as I mentioned earlier, while it is relatively difficult to use Cursor API in other clients, it is still possible using the Cursor SDK or calling the Cursor API directly.

So how much usage I get inside Cursor is not relevant here. If I had a SuperGrok plan, I’d use Grok models in the clients listed above and if I had a Cursor plan, I’d still use Grok models in those same clients and not Cursor.

can we have the plans unified

@prayagmatic - the key thing here is to separate two different pools.

Grok model usage included with your Cursor subscription (Pro or Ultra) is meant for use inside Cursor products like the editor, Agent, and Cloud Agents. It is not meant to power third-party clients like Pi, Ampcode, or Hermes. If you want Grok models in those clients, that’s on xAI (their subscription and their API and terms), not Cursor.

I won’t quote exact included Grok limits for a specific plan here since they depend on the plan and the current setup, and they change from time to time. The up-to-date breakdown is always in Dashboard > Usage, and pricing is here: Models & Pricing | Cursor Docs

In short, if your goal is to use Grok models in external clients, you should look at xAI or SuperGrok, since the Cursor plan covers usage inside Cursor. If you also plan to work in Cursor, then compare Pro vs Ultra based on how much usage you want inside the editor.

@Rithesh_Kumar - I hear the idea about combining plans. I can’t promise any timelines, but the request is clear.
