Hey, thanks for the feature request. I think we’ll update it soon.

It’s already on OpenRouter, both with free and production endpoints.
According to DeepSeek, no API changes are needed so it should be easy.

It’s coding has improved, so it will be nice to have.

Thanks, could you please let us know when 0324 is available.

Feels flawed, QWQ 23B is quite meh

DeepSeek feels not tuned for tool use. It’s not knowing what the proper tool to use is at a given circumstance. Hope we can get agent support for DeepSeek soon. Maybe the cursor can improve it for agentic workflow by fine-tuning it?

is deepseek’s agent mode still “coming soon”?
thanks

They claim that this part has been improved in the the latest version

They are probably waiting for Fireworks to integrate into their system, and then it will be added to Cursor.

I am so curious about the new version. Original deepseek works great for my usecases already.

Developers can integrate the DeepSeek V3 model into Cursor using API keys provided by platforms like Nebius AI Studio via OpenRouter. This setup allows users to access the model for free and customize it within Cursor’s settings under the “Models” tab

I have never been sure if Cursor uses that kind of setup. Any ideas?

Wait, this sounds interesting - we can use Cursor with our own models???

This is well explained here, including limitations

I just added v3 0324 via OpenRouter API. Its free for now so can test it without issues.

I would wait for the unbricked V3/R1 updates… Its well known what issues exist with original on their API. Also original API is collecting user prompts for training now on last version.

Not possible, Just confusing answers from different LLMS.

I apologize for the confusion in my previous response. After double-checking, I realize that Cursor AI does not currently have a built-in option to directly add an OpenRouter API key. Here’s the correct information:

Cursor AI primarily uses OpenAI's models by default.

There is no native integration for OpenRouter or DeepSeek V3 in Cursor AI's settings.

To use alternative models like DeepSeek V3, you would need to use Cursor AI's extension or plugin system, if available.

If you’re looking to use DeepSeek V3 or other models via OpenRouter, you might need to:

Check if Cursor AI has released any updates allowing for custom model integration.

Look for third-party extensions or plugins that enable OpenRouter integration.

Consider using other IDEs or platforms that support direct OpenRouter API integration.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by my earlier incorrect information. Always check Cursor AI’s official documentation or support channels for the most up-to-date information on model integrations.

Version 0.48 can not support custom API configs. i tried OpenRouter’s API, but it doesn’t work. Replied by “Invalid OpenAI Key”, when click “Verify”.

Hey, are you sure you did everything correctly? It works for me.
