Terminal in editor area not showing "share with chat" option

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I share my logs with the chat by highlighting the parts i want and then a bubble option appears saying “share with chat” but now that isnt coming up anymore and its very frustrating.

it still comes up if i have my terminal in the bottom panel terminal but not when the terminal is in the editor. which that just disrupts my flow so would be really nice to have solved.

Steps to Reproduce

  • open new terminal in editor (i have powershell)
  • highlight something

Expected Behavior

  • observe the lack of bubble

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. Yes, this is a known issue with terminals in the editor area, the bubble doesn’t appear when selecting text in editor terminals, it only shows in the bottom panel terminal.

For now, the workaround is to use the bottom terminal when you need to share logs, or copy the text manually and paste it into chat. You can also try selecting the text you need and pressing the shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + I, that should attach the terminal context to the chat.

ok ya ill use bottom terminal for now. i tried ctrl + I and that wasnt working to attach the logs
