On the Mac platform, I just performed an update and noticed that the Tab in the right sidebar has changed. Now, why do I need to create a new file to view the file tree?

Not only is it difficult to use, but there is little support for Mac users on desktop. Now the agents history panel is forced onto the right side and there is no easy way to change it. I bounce between chats all day long and having to eat up screenspace to see the history chats is a waste of real estate. Complaints aside I love Cursor.
Agree I very much dislike the new updates to the file viewer/sidebar window. Very odd UX decision to open a new file for editing by default in the agent window⊠would really appreciate the Cursor team revert these changes
Hey all!
Appreciate the feedback! A couple folks at Cursor have also called this out and itâs being discussed.
the new layout is causing some serious usability issues for me and my team.
The main problem right now is actually that empty Untitled-1 tab. Itâs significantly disrupting my workflow. The project file tree already takes up a lot of screen real estate, and now this forced Untitled-1 tabâwhich I almost never useâwastes even more valuable space.
To be honest, this feels like a very poor design choice. It clutters the workspace so much that several of my colleagues have actually decided to stop upgrading Cursor altogether because of this specific change.
Iâd really appreciate it if the team could look into a way to disable or remove this behavior.
