Tool calls flash 'Call MCP Tool' before becoming the actual tool instance

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Likely connected to Can't skip MCP tool call

All tool calls flash ‘Call MCP Tool’ before becoming the actual ‘instance’ of the tool.

It implies that there’s an option to select ‘Use Allowlist’, to skip, to add ‘the tool’ to the allowlist, or to run. These button presses don’t seem to do anything, and are not attached ‘to the actual tool’.

Within a few hundred milliseconds, this becomes the actual instance of the tool, and the buttons ‘do something’

Steps to Reproduce

Call any tool.

Expected Behavior

The tool call should not display this ‘generic’ version, it should display nothing or the in-progress rule ‘card’.
