Describe the Bug

My cursor stop editing files, creating folders, etc.
How to fix the error: “Tool edit_file not found.”

Could it be relate to file/folder permissions ?

Have no idea how to reproduce =)

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Version: 1.0.0 (user setup)
VSCode Version: 1.96.2

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you let me know if this happens in a new chat? Also, could you let me know which model you are using? I also noticed that you are using an outdated version, please update to the latest version.

Hey thanks for your reply, actually updating the software to the new version fixed that issue!

I didnt notice that the version has update, hopefully the new version has upgrade notification.

I also thought it was a version issue, I updated it and it worked for 2 hours, then the situation was the same……

I also have that issue. It was working fine for a while and now it doesn’t work at all anymore. Cursor is also not allowed to run it’s own CAT command as an alternative, goes in a loop, and eventually quits out.

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you try creating a new chat? Also, could you let me know which model you are using? Could you also share the request ID? First, you’ll need to disable privacy mode.

Using Agen mode and Auto model
Starting a new chat solved it.
However this is not a valid soultion
