Unable to use my personal OpenAI API key after Cursor Pro's free tokens ran out

Describe the Bug

“I am a Cursor Pro subscriber. My monthly free tokens have run out, and I am unable to use my own OpenAI API key. The application keeps showing an ‘out of tokens’ message, preventing me from using any AI features.”

Steps to Reproduce

Use up all the free monthly tokens provided by Cursor Pro.

Go to Settings and enter a personal OpenAI API key, or set it manually in the openuser.json file.

Attempt to use any AI feature (e.g., Chat, Agent, Edit).

The application fails to use the personal API key and displays an “out of tokens” error instead.

Expected Behavior

“The application should automatically switch to using my personal OpenAI API key after the free tokens are depleted. I expect to be able to use the AI features of Cursor without being blocked by the ‘out of tokens’ message.”

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Could you let me know if your API key is valid and works in other applications? Also, do you have a balance available for using models via the API? And please let me know which model you are using.
