could you help me understand where cursor has built-in mermaid functionality? I would like to use it. so far, all mermaid related functionality I have seen was VSCode and not cursor related.
Hi @proteus-dev,
There’s no built-in function for Markdown or Mermaid.
I’m using VS Code’s extension.
If you have a better way to render, please let me know.
Thanks.
That’s what I thought and that’s why i do not understand why you post it in the cursor forum instead of the VSCode forum
Hi @CasperTsui and welcome to the Cursor Forum.
You can contact the creator of that extension from the marketplace and ask them to update it.
Thank you @proteus-dev and @T1000 for your advice, I’ve found my solution.
Will we have a Cursor built-in function to render Markdown in the near future?
my personal opinion: I doubt it… that would be bad architectural design from what I currently understand as it would be a bad separation of concercs and introduce redundancy as VSCode and its marketplace already handles this.
This being said, I am also not very happy with the existing Mermaid options provided by the VSCode marketplace.
What’s your experience so with the extensions so far and why do you think this should be handled by cursor instead of VSCode?
… and while defining this question, I think I already got a possible answer:
I also prefer visual communication with my AI. Sometimes I use rules to generate mermaid diagrams or depCruiser files (dot for AI, svg for me), so we have an increased shared understanding. So yea… take my first paragraph with a grain of salt. This indeed could be a good idea to increas UX.
Thanks for your reply @proteus-dev.
As Markdown and Mermaid become popular, this language lint and rendering should be considered a built-in function rather than relying on the community/marketplace to provide better credibility, support and security.
100% agreed if Mermaid will be powered by Curosr AI, the possibilities are unlimited.
