I usually ask cursor to explain hard concepts in mermaid diagram format. However, since cursor doesn’t have preview, I have to copy the response to other apps like notion to look at the diagram.
“Give me a mermaid of this as an act”
There’s a few extensions you can install. I’ve been using “Mermaid Preview” and it’s fine.
Definitely a feature an extension can help with for viewing them in general!
Alternatively, in lieu of any feature here, you could make and run an MCP server with a single tool, called ‘Render Mermaid Diagram’, where it can pass in Mermaid syntax and it responds with the generated image so you can see it and its attached to the chat!

I will note this as a feature suggestion though, would be cool to add more inline previews for stuff like this for sure!

so i will be able to add the mermaid blah blah code to instructions.md kind of markdowns and cursor would be able to use it as for example architecture reference diagram?
AI models can create mermaid diagrams, the issue for now is that we need the extension to show the diagram.
