Upgrade to 0.45.X always breaks cursor

I’ve noticed that Cursor repeatedly attempts to upgrade to version 0.45.x but then stops working, showing a connection error. Will this issue be addressed? I genuinely like Cursor and would prefer to continue using it. I’m perfectly fine using version 0.44.x of Cursor. Will older versions of Cursor, like 0.44.x, continue to be supported moving forward?

How / where does it attempt to upgrade? I don’t even know how to upgrade and when I try to download from the main page it still is the 0.44 version.

The application performs an automatic update, and the latest version, 0.45.3, with a build date of January 24, 2025, appears to be more stable. At least it no longer throws a connection error in the chat. However, I haven’t tested the other features of this update yet. I remember reading in another post that a previous release of 0.45.x was missing a Node.js module. In any case, version 0.45.3 seems to be working well enough for me so far.

Hey, I take it your problem is now resolved? Regarding version support, we can maintain at most the previous version as long as most users have it.

yes, 0.45.3 works for me. Thanks for following up!

When does it do that. Every time I run the application on the Mac OS, there’s no mention of updates.

I reckon they are rolling it out progressively.

Yep, it broke my installation. Today I wanted to open it and I got ‘Error [ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND]’. Downloaded the .exe again and could reinstall with no issues and now I’m running the latest version.
