I’m on Cursor 0.50.5. I get this lovely warning. Any clues? I’m on pro account, slow requests.
UPDATE: Other users on Discord and Reddit confirm they have same issue even with fast requests. This might be related to older (pre-0.50) Cursor versions.
UPDATE 2: RIP Claude 4
Things I tried:
restarting Cursor
starting new chat
starting new project
reinstalling Cursor from scratch
using both thinking and non-thinking variants
using both WSL and native Windows
turning VPN off

Getting the same thing here. Would love some clarity on this as nothing I’ve read suggests this should require usage based pricing.

Some users on Discord and Reddit confirm they have same issue even with fast requests, so the “slow requests theory” is probably invalid.
Any chances this might be region based?

isnt this because we are in slow queues? im having the same problem but for my friend who still have fast request its working fine
It’s also possible that those who have issues even with fast requests, are on pre-0.50 versions of Cursor.
It’s been hinted on Discord earlier that 0.50.x is required for Claude 4 non-usage pricing.
but i do have the 0.50.5

Yes, but like me, you’re in slow queue.
So this COULD be a combo:
For slow users it wouldn’t work because they’re slow
For fast users it wouldn’t work if they’re on pre-50.
Still just a theory.

Awesome. Did you do any changes or did it just click at some point?
Still nothing here.
Nevermind. I forgot I enabled $5 of usage based a few hours ago.

It’s official then, took only 6 hours to confirm.
Definitely not going to pay for extra fast requests to test something that others get for free because they just so happened to win the monthly fast requests refresh lottery.
I’ll rather use that $ to finally try out Windsurf.

It’s really disappointing that Cursor has blocked this article title from being searchable on their forum.
This is a very confusing business logic. When you upgrade from a monthly subscription to an annual one, once you’ve exceeded 500 requests, you’re no longer allowed to use the model normally. The support team keeps replying in different ways, suggesting that I use the 【0.04-per-call】 option instead.
I simply cannot understand this business model. Under the 【20】 plan, even if you exceed the 500 fast requests, you can still get a response after waiting 1–3 minutes. But under the 【192】 plan, it alm…

This actually ■■■■ since my fast pool is 450/500 when claude 4 sonnet is out…
Although Windsurf is advanced, my purpose of using the cursor is slow responses, but now it increasingly disables this option, so we will then disable the cursor and get a windsurf.
