The usage bar is controlled by a setting called cursor.composer.usageSummaryDisplay, which defaults to auto. In auto mode, the bar only appears when your spend approaches your plan limit, so it stays hidden during normal usage. You can set it to Always in Settings (search for “usage summary display”) to make it permanently visible.
One thing to note: this currently works in the Editor chat panel. In the Agents window, the usage bar isn’t shown yet regardless of the setting. Our team is working on better usage visibility there. A related thread with the same report: (Agents Window) Where did the total usage indicator go?
