V 0.30.5 so slow it's unusable (disabled Copilot)

Started using Cursor last Friday and loved it, decided to upgrade to the paid plan. Am on the second/ third day using it and the application has just slowed down to a halt to the point it is completely unusable. Please help!!! I’d love to keep using this but at this rate it’s a waste of money.

Example of ‘slowness’: I’m writing the front-end of a Next.js app, usually when I type div and hit ‘tab’ to autocomplete, it turns it into a HTML element instantly, now, it shows the cursor ‘Loading…’ small popup and it takes 5-10 seconds. So this is not using any Cursor specific functionality at all. Thanks!

Steps I’ve done to troubleshoot:

  • Tried VSCode and it was working fine so I don’t believe it is a VSCode extension/ set-up issue.
  • Disabled Copilot++
  • Deleted all previous chats, no ongoing chat

Not sure if relevant, but all my models are enabled

Had the same issue. Suggestions were just too slow to be useful. This had been going on for a while but it seems it has gotten much better with the latest update. Haven’t tested too much, but the I tested it is much better. I noticed however that there is still some input lag in combination with suggestions. So after hitting enter it can take half a second to actually get the change. This is annoying. I also have a arm MAC.

New version that seemed to have improved slowness but still latency issues and input lag:

Edit: I have a slight hunch that Github Copilot could be related to the input lag, though I’m far from certain.

I have the same issue, but only when connected to a remote server using the Remote SSH extension.

Same here, Cursor has become EXTREMELY slow after a couple hours of use, in one Jupyter file (not in others), even when typing strings that should have no completion (feedback form here from an online course):

The extensions were imported from VSCode, which is fast as usual. No code cells are running, and typing is extremely slow right after restarting Cursor.
