Vertex AI Claude Models on Cursor - Google Cloud

Describe the Bug

When will the Cursor team add Google Cloud Vertex AI Claude models (AnthropicVertex) to the available models? AWS Bedrock is already supported—so why not Vertex? We’ve been waiting for this support and would appreciate it being prioritized for the next release.

Please pass this along to the cursor team.

Would love to see this as our workflows are fully on GCP and VertexAI. Centralized billing for API usage would also be of considerable benefit.

Would love this as swell. I see Cursor already supports AWS Bedrock and Azure OpenAI. I hope this comes soon!

I was trying to build a local proxy via converting vertex ai api to openai compatible api. it can pass the verification step when override openai base urls in cursor, but fail the actual chat.

Indeed it looks like Cursor blocks using localhost api endpoints for proxies. Seems a hair odd to me for people running local models, but I assume they have their reasons.

The bigger frustration and the reason I’m even looking to this (beyond centralized billing and privacy) is that Anthropic’s API endpoints have been dreadfully unreliable in the past week. Cursor’s own Anthropic endpoints to their credit have been a lot more reliable.
