Vim leader key press in AI pane activates vim command as if I was in editor pane

If I am in the editor pane in Normal mode using Vim keybinds then click on the AI pane and start typing but hit my leader key it triggers Vim commands as if I was in the editor pane. I found a workaround - make sure I’m in Insert mode when clicking into the AI pane but thats not optimal of course.
