since 1.3 there is settings in background agent:

what does this mean? can i run background agent not on cursor servers? do i have to be logged in with github?
Came here wondering the same thing… I thought Background Agents were always Virtual Machine sessions?
Or is that just the web/slack ones, and the ones launched from the IDE are local?
@condor Are you able to provide any further information on this new option in 1.3, please?
Thanks @mwjt42 checking it
The setting toggles the default view when opening Background Agent runs in Cursor.
Either a Peek (code & summary) or Virtual Machine (full VM loaded as new window)
Ah, thanks @condor. It’s not clear at all this is a UI setting!
tagging @liquefy so you see the response.
Can I request this option is inverted and rephrased as “always open BG agents in summary view” or something similar
Yes, sure, why would it be better inverted?
I can’t think of a statement that makes sense the other way around..!
e.g. “always show full background agent view” is clumsy and doesn’t suggest the alternative is a summary view.
But I’ll leave the semantics up to you! The main point being, the setting should make it clear it’s the Background Agent *UI* toggle - currently the statement suggests the Agent might not run in a Virtual Machine session, which isn’t the case at all.
I see, thank you for the explanation ![]()
Will pass that also to the team.
