Voice input button flashes but does nothing (Cursor v2.6.18)

Describe the Bug

The voice input button (microphone icon) flashes when clicked but does nothing. No recording starts, no transcription appears, and no AI response is generated. This started after updating to Cursor v2.6.18.

Steps to Reproduce

Update Cursor to v2.6.18
Open any chat or composer
Click the voice input (microphone) button
Observe: the button flashes briefly, then nothing happens

Expected Behavior

Clicking the voice input button should start recording, transcribe speech, and send it to the AI for a response.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Version Information

Version: 2.6.18

For AI issues: which model did you use?

N/A (voice input never activates)

For AI issues: add Request ID with privacy disabled

N/A (no request is sent)

Additional Information

Microphone permissions are enabled for Cursor
Microphone works in other apps
Issue is reproducible every time

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Just chiming in that it works for me (v2.6.18, windows)

Maybe there is a simple way I can have it try and reinstall? I did make sure to close everything and do a full rebootto be sure

I gave it some time and it started working, maybe there was a server connection issue?
