When to Start a New Composer?

I loved Cursor before, but migrating to Composer from Chat has been game changing. Composer really does feel like magic. Especially when it’s running fast.

I am wondering what is the recommendation for when if ever to start a new Composer session by clicking New Composer and clearing the chat history. I think having worked with Claude chat, I have been trained to not let chat sessions go to long and to start new chats on a regular basis.

What is the recommendation for Composer? If you’re coding a project all day or all week, should you use the same Composer chat the entire time. Or should we be restarting Composer on a regular basis or performance may degrade?

Hi @devgrinder,

Thank you for your kind words.

There’s a related post that might be useful.

The summary is that, yes indeed, there’s a point where starting fresh may help, but it depends.

Cheers,
Petros

Hi @devgrinder

When working on a feature, I try to iterate on the same composer, using the same files and folders.

If things get messy, most of the time I just start a new composer to keep things clean.

For new features, it’s a good idea to start with a fresh composer to avoid confusion and keep your work organized. Also you will have different references.

Hope that helps.
