Where are my lil brains?

Describe the Bug

When I open the model selector window in Chat, every other day, the little brain icons disappear and the models are instead appended with “-thinking”. Why?

Steps to Reproduce

Open the model selector and see that there are no brain icons, but instead model names are appended with “-thinking”. This breaks every other day.

Expected Behavior

Lil brain icons should be there, but they’re not.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Here is what it looks like with the lil brains. It should look like this.

Hey, thanks for the report and the screenshots. I can see the difference between the two states.

This is a known issue. The brain icons in the model selector sometimes don’t render, and the models show up with the -thinking suffix in the name instead. A few users have already reported this:

The team is aware. For now, a workaround is that the thinking variants are usually listed below the non-thinking ones. You can also disable the models you don’t need in Cursor Settings > Models to remove the duplicates.

Also, could you let me know if you have an API key enabled?

Let me know if you have any other questions.
