When Composer 2 was originally released, I had “Composer 2” and “Composer 2 Fast” available. As of last week, I believe, I now only have “Composer 2,” which seems to be the fast version. Do we no longer have the ability to select between them, or is something wrong with my Cursor?
This is expected behavior. The model picker has been updated so that Composer 2 is now presented as a single model with a toggleable Fast parameter, rather than two separate entries.
Fast is ON by default, which gives you the faster variant. To switch to the standard (non-fast) Composer 2:
Click the model name at the bottom of the chat panel to open the model picker
Hover over Composer 2 and look for the Edit button
Toggle Fast off
Both variants are still fully available. More details in the Introducing Composer 2 blog post, which notes: “We’re making fast the default option.” A similar question was also answered in this thread.
Haha, gotcha.
Thx @mohitjain for pointing to the right direction.
Can understand and see the benefit of going that route.
UI integration feedback (feels a bit half baked for now):
Default keyboard shortcut toggle not usable on european keyboard layouts
Toggling by UI requires you to
know that hovering over a model revels an edit button (if you don’t know your’re lost)
after expanding model selection one needs to search the selected model again in the list to be able to reveal the edit button to access the toggle (instead of being able to directly toggle on the already selected model)
Thanks! Also, for convenience, I see there is a shortcut to toggle fast on and off. By default, on Windows, it is set to ctrl+shift+/, but it can be modified.
