Why was I rate-limited and my requests forcibly interrupted even though I opted out of the new billing model and was far from reaching the 500-request limit, forcing me to spend additional requests to continue?

This is not about your rate limit or forcibly interrupting you.
The error says that Cursor has reached a rate limit with the provider. That means that not your personal monthly limit was reached but that the AI provider used by Cursor (e.g. Anthropic for Claude,…) is overloaded and had limited access for users.
Such issues do not remain for long as AI providers are working on handling the traffic.
The issue should be resolved already.
