Why cursor app is not properly signed by developoers?

I use Cursor on lates macOS release.
I can create and use it for nextJS projects for files I create within cursor…

But if I try to open .tsx files that just sit on the file system and I try to open it with Cursor, I get blocked by apple with error saying it can’t detect if there is malware in it.

My security settings already set to “App Store & Known Developers” , but Cursor is not even “known developers” as they dont’ sign cursor at all.

As a result, files can’t be opened by Cursor… I can open the same file with VS Code and BBEdit…

So the question is:

  1. How does everyone deals with it?
  2. Why Cursor team does NOT sign their application to make it easier on people who use it?
  3. Nobody seem to complain about it… How come I am the only one experiencing this issue?

Chat GPT identified a problem as Cursor not being signed and asking me to sign the code myself. This would be ridiculous thing for a developer to do… I would expect a tool to be already signed before released.

Any thoughts ?

Hey, could it be that you don’t have permissions for the directory where your project is located? Also, try granting Cursor permission to edit files on your system. Go to Settings → Privacy → Full Disk Access. This might help.
