Why doesn't gpt-5-codex have access to the web search tool?

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

gpt-5-codex is the only model that doesn’t seem to have web search access. Is there a particular reason why this is the case? If not, seems like a bug worth fixing.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Select gpt-5-codex from the model selector
  • Ask it to search any web content
  • The model will be unable to do so

Expected Behavior

The model should be able to search the web as it helps a lot while debugging code.
