I have api keys, I’m paid user and Gemini’s new models support agentic flows.
so why doesn’t cursor force us to stick with claude, which is “old” by now?

I mean you could’ve just replied??
this doesn’t make sense to me
Why are people demanding things like they are entitle or something. I mean, developing all the features they do with a team of 4 dev is something people should keep in mind. Adding model to agent must be more complex than what people think. They already shared in an other post that they are still tuning their prompts for the Gemini models. Google Gemini Models - Performance and Feedback
Also why people keep creating new post instead of posting in feedback thread dedicated to the subject.
The agent composer is a custom built feature in Cursor that, at the time we developed it, was built around Claude 3.5 only, as that was the best model at the time.
We are always testing and evaluating new models, and we’ve found Gemini to be good enough to release as a general model, but we’d have a lot of work to get Composer to work flawlessly with the Gemini models.
If we find Gemini to outperform Claude 3.5, we may add it as an option, but there is no plans to do this right now.
was built around Claude 3.5 only,
Still no intention of implementing this? gemini 2.0 is ripping it even in normal mode. I’d love to see it move through my codebase in agent mode!
Not that I am complaining in any way, shape, or form. As well as I tip my hat to the cursor team for delivering an extraordinarily top notch product. However, it is just that a product and not OSS. Which many people most likely pay a subscription for and for asking when they can get access to the next model (yes, they come daily now and for the cursor team picking the right one to invest their time to develop is critical for their success) and in turn reap the same rewards cursor, cline, roo, bolt, w!nd$urf etc (all besides cursor OSS, btw)… does matter for a paid tool. So understanding that some folks out there are just finishing up college or are 8 years from retirement who maybe relying on tools like these to stay relevant before “the invisible door shuts”. Try not to get rattled because someone asks a fairly straightforward question about their return on investment and what to expect.
for me it outperforms claude in many ways. so why not allow the user to choose their own style?
please just take the time to explain what is so difficult in implementing other models for agentic flows. as someone who’s been working daily with all of the models that come out for the past 2 years, for the life of me, i can’t see the dificulty.
tell me what’s so hard and put my mind at ease and I’ll stop pestering you guys about this
I’m all for doing everything I can to help out, if it’s really a 4-dev team developing curosr.
not looking for compensation, not looking for recognition. just want the features I want in the app and I’ll help out any and everybody who needs help with this.
just give us agentic flow for all models, allow us to use the full capabilities of all models (it’s shameful that gemini models still can’t support images)
