Okay, I uninstalled cursor, entirely removed it’s files from 3 places:
.cursor
folder from my user folder
cursor
folder from AppData\Local\Programs
Cursor
folder from AppData\Roaming
(Cursor definitely should do it itself on uninstall)
Installed latest version, logged in, opened project folder and once I’m clicking bottom left to connect to WSL ans select “WSL” on top of the screen:
I’m getting infinite installing extension animation:
MS WSL extension doesn’t appear in extensions marketplace. And I didn’t find a way to install it according to “how to install any extension” since there is no such button as “download extension” on MS WSL extension page.
I don’t see any related output in logs.
I tried Open Remote extension (from store) with no luck too.
I tried to import VS Code settings using cursor settings, but this feature doesn’t seem to work at all.
Going through forum topics with similar issues gave no luck.
I had same issues on 0.45.11, 0.45.15 and 0.45.17
I’m using windows 10
WSL works perfectly in VS Code as well as in your main competitor’s editor. Out of the box, without any additional setup, so I consider it as Cursor issue.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. Overall extensions compatibility seems cursor.
For example in solidity extensions from NomicFoundation or juanblanco (bots have same issue in cursor) sometimes I’m unable to use ctrl+click for navigation between files and functions It just doesn’t highlight. Sometimes I can, but have no idea what it depends on…
A lot of extensions are missing from marketplace without proper way to install them (like in my example). Etc.
