how much tokens you burn on auto? for ex, i used 1.5B tokens on Auto, still working

I also got the same issue today seem like auto/infinite hit the usage limit, i use only 434.3M tokens - and it seem like auto/infinite now use the On-Demand Usage so now we are paying for the auto/infinite.

Does you guys have the sames issue?

since i was on auto/infinite, i never counted tokens. but since infinite is so close… i moved to windsurf and use the free models. works like charm.

Having same issue here, I am only using auto mode for the past few months since it’s doing it’s job right but sadly it seems I’ve hit my usage limit although I am using auto mode? It’s also saying “you’ll hit your usage limit by 12/29/2025” I am hoping this is incorrect, started happening in version 2.2.20 but also happening on 2.2.43

same here, the auto is not anymore unlimited

If that’s true I’d have to cancel before jan 5, can someone else confirm?

Still happening

same thing happening to me as well, can someone confirm is Auto unlimited or not?

Same issue for me, never had an issue before, this is the first time after 1 year being cursor, seems I need to cancel and start using a different service.

It’s actually real, auto mode is no longer free

No longer free it would seem

Just a quick note to congratulate Cursor Team on an impressive decision.

Reaching a usage limit on AUTO mode — which was already slow, opaque, and often inaccurate — and then limiting it even further is quite an achievement.

Limiting a mode that barely worked to begin with is certainly a bold product strategy.

In any case, problem solved on my end. I’ve cancelled my subscription and moved back to using Codex directly in VS Code, which, incidentally, is fast, predictable, and not arbitrarily capped.

Sometimes “AUTO” really just means “automatically frustrating.”

Best of luck with the roadmap.

After the auto model is no longer counted as “Included”, I’ve tried varies models, some are still counted as “Included” for a short period of time, then also counted as “On-Demand”; some are cheap or free but feel bad in quality.

Right now I’m using claude-4.5-haiku, it seems to be a good balance between quality and cost.

i think auto no longer unlimited, especially https://cursor.com/blog/aug-2025-pricing after change on pricing.

if you in 20$ try to use Grok Code since its free.

I am experiencing similar behaviour. I tried mailing on [email protected], but didn’t get a response.

Nonetheless, I used about 431M in my pro plan, so I think they might have swapped in a FUP silently.

One thing I do not get is that I did not use cursor yesterday and today. (I am in BKK - GMT+7).

Yet it says I did $200 of usage both the days. I do not have API keys or anything.

I think, my hunch, correct me it’s wrong. it’s their way of blocking users during holidays, so they can do some sort of year end code freeze.

Their scheduled jobs pre-fill your quota beginning of the day (Job schedule) to USD 200 (If you hit the limit once, or some guard rails set over for year-end / holidays).

Can some one confirm if they see the same thing?

Nonetheless - a poor strategy - ONLY BECAUSE - I do not see explicit references / communication - if it was communicated, would have been legit.
