Describe the request:
In Cursor 3’s Agents Window, there is no way to
view the file tree/explorer alongside the agent chat.
Please add a toggleable File Explorer panel
within the Agents Window.
Use case:
When working with agents, referencing the file
structure is essential. Currently I have to switch
back to the IDE view every time, which breaks
the agent-first workflow that Cursor 3 promotes.
A resizable explorer panel on the left side of
the Agents Window would make it a truly
self-contained workspace.
Hey, thanks for the feature request. There’s already a file explorer in the Agents Window. Open it with Ctrl+G on Windows or Cmd+G on Mac. From there, you can browse the file tree next to the chat without switching to the IDE view.
Give it a try and let me know if you meant something else, like a permanently pinned panel instead of an overlay. If so, we can clarify and I’ll pass it to the team as a separate request.
What I’m really hoping for is a bit more
navigation freedom — specifically, the ability
to browse sibling project folders (next to the
current one) or navigate up to parent directories,
all without leaving the Agents Window.
Right now it seems limited to the current
project root. Being able to explore the broader
folder structure inline would make the Agents
Window feel much more self-contained.
Would love to see this as a feature request
if it’s not already on the roadmap!
One more thing — is it possible to move the
Ctrl+G file panel to the left side of the
Agents Window?
Having it on the left (like a traditional
file explorer) would feel more natural.
If it’s not currently supported, I’d love
to see that as a feature request too!

wonderful to see this added to the roadmap!
Navigation outside the project root parent or sibling folders. Right now, the file explorer in the Agents Window is limited to the root of the current workspace, and there’s no native way to go above it from that view yet. Workaround: open the parent directory as the workspace, then you’ll see the full tree.
Move the Ctrl+G panel to the left side. Its position is currently fixed, and there’s no option to change the side. I’ll log this as a separate feature request too.
