Describe the Bug

hello cursor.

i’ve been happily using cursor for 4 ish months now and its amazing but.. there is one massive problem that keeps occurring sinds the last week or so.

halve of the time the agent just doesn’t work, whenever i give it a prompt it starts thinking for 1 second 2 second then just stops and the type box goes back to like i never pressed enter. i cannot really replicate this because it happens randomly. but sometimes is does keep doing this for hours on end just like tonight and today. started tonight so went to bed. now 11 hours later still same problem. it just doesnt want to start getting on with my prompt. and probably in like 30 minutes it wil work again but then after a few hours stop. this is un workable.

what i tried and does not work.

  • reinstalled cursor.
  • re logged in.
  • up to date every update prompted in the left down corner.

windows 11 up to date.
16gb Ram ddr5. | rtx360 | i5.

Steps to Reproduce

i cannot really replicate this because it happens randomly. but sometimes is does keep doing this for hours on end just like tonight and toda

Expected Behavior

it should start en keep thinking and start changing my coding questens, instead it starts thinking for 2/3 seconds. then goes back to nothing with the prompt back again in the chatbox and waiting to be pressed enter.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

happens on all updated versions in the latest week. cuz i have had 4 update prompts and on all latest update this happens.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

tried all of them. all of them have the same problem.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. It looks like a network issue causing the Agent to silently crash. Please try this first:

The most likely fix is to disable HTTP/2:

  • Open Cursor Settings Ctrl+,
  • Search for “HTTP/2”
  • Enable “Disable HTTP/2”
  • Restart Cursor

This resolves intermittent connection issues for many Windows users, especially on corporate networks or with certain ISPs.

If that doesn’t help, also try:

  • Run network diagnostics: Cursor Settings → Network → Run Diagnostics (share the results if issues persist)
  • Check MCP servers: disable the ones you don’t use
  • Temporarily disable your firewall/antivirus to see if they’re blocking Cursor

Please disable HTTP/2 first and let me know if it helped. If not, please send:

  • Network diagnostics results
  • Request IDs of failed attempts (Chat → context menu → Copy Request ID)
  • Any red errors from Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console tab
