Ever since the mid 1.3.x Cursor has been repeating itself, I thought maybe since you were upgrading to newer versions you were fixing these issues, but you weren’t.
This was the start:
I need to fix the excessive parentheses. The issue is that there are too many parentheses in the color definitions. Let me fix this by replacing the problematic lines with the correct format. I’ll need to fix each line individually. Let me try a different approach and fix the specific problematic lines by looking at the exact content and fixing the parentheses issue. Let me check the exact content again and fix the parentheses issue by looking at the specific lines mentioned in the error. I need to fix the parentheses issue by replacing the excessive parentheses with the correct format:

In the end you have to just stop the chat then start a new chat, gets really out of hand.
This is going to get out of control real fast.

Still repeating, when will you fix this mess. There must be tons of other people getting this error and I hate to think how much money we’re losing from this constant mess, especially if you walk away from it for a few mins to come back to it repeating itself over and over.
Still waiting for an official response as to why Cursor keeps repeating itself.

@deanrie Will there be any official statement made as to why this is happening and whether or not we’re being billed for this happening?
I get this sometimes too when using Auto usually where it will repeat itself. It will do this seemingly forever, and if I stop and give it a new request it will often get back into the same loop. I have to create a new chat with no history to get it to stop doing it or switch models. However, when I check my usage on the dashboard, it will be a 2-3x more tokens as normal, but it will show “Error, not charged”
Hi @jokerfool, thank you for providing those details. This isn’t an issue tied to any particular version; it’s more a matter of model performance. While we’ve made general improvements, it’s not possible to fully eliminate these kinds of problems with models.
We’ve discussed this in past threads on the same topic:
Models sometimes produce hallucinations.
Some models might get stuck in patterns more often than others.
Occasionally, an individual MCP was the cause.
In other cases, issues arose when a custom API key’s model didn’t work well with Agent.
Could you provide more information, such as:
Which model you used
