I already pay for Claude Max. Why can’t I use it properly inside Cursor?

Cursor has the best visual coding experience I have seen so far. When an agent edits code in Cursor, I can actually follow what is happening: file changes, diffs, editor context, applied edits, review flow. It feels natural for real development work.

But here is the problem:

Many of us already pay for Claude Max because Claude is one of the strongest coding models available. Claude Code is powerful, especially for large projects, terminal work, tests, refactoring, and project-wide changes. But the experience is not as visual and comfortable as Cursor. In VS Code with Claude Code, I often see the changes after the fact as summaries or diffs, not with the same live editor experience Cursor provides.

So we are stuck between two worlds:

Cursor has the better coding interface.
Claude Max / Claude Code has the model and project power many developers want.
But we cannot combine them properly.

This feels like a waste.

If I already pay for Claude Max, I should be able to use that subscription inside Cursor, or at least connect Claude Code officially to Cursor in a way that keeps Cursor’s visual editing experience.

Please consider supporting one of these options:

  1. Login with an existing Claude Pro/Max account inside Cursor.
  2. Use Claude Max subscription quota directly in Cursor.
  3. Official Claude Code integration inside Cursor.
  4. A Cursor-native Claude Code workflow with live edits, diffs, terminal actions, test runs, and review steps.
  5. A better bridge between Cursor’s agent UI and Claude Code’s project capabilities.

Right now, developers are forced to pay separately, use API billing, or switch between tools constantly. That is not a great workflow.

Cursor + Claude Max / Claude Code would be an extremely strong combination.

I think many serious developers would want this. Cursor already has the visual coding experience. Claude has the strong coding intelligence. Please make it possible to bring them together properly.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feature request. It’s clear.

Here’s the honest current state: you can’t log in to Cursor with an existing Claude Pro/Max subscription or reuse its quota. Anthropic consumer subscriptions are tied to Anthropic’s own apps, and that quota can’t be carried over into a third-party IDE. That’s a provider limitation, not a Cursor choice. BYOK in Cursor only works via an API key with per-token billing, not via a subscription.

What you can do right now:

  • Add your Anthropic API key in Settings, then Claude models run through your key and you pay Anthropic per token.
  • Use the Claude Code CLI/extension inside Cursor. It logs in with your Claude subscription, and Cursor can pull those sessions into the Agents window.

I’ve noted your request for deeper native Claude Code integration with a full live-edit/diff/review flow and I’ll pass it to the team as a product signal. No ETA yet.
